Equity in education: Access to resources and opportunities for all

16/09/2021 PNG

Students from disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to perform well in school or to have the tools for digital learning, and may lack a quiet place to study at home and parental help with their schoolwork. They are less likely to pursue higher education and training. Students from migrant backgrounds often face similar obstacles.

Education systems need to pay close attention to prevent increasingly digital education from amplifying existing inequalities in access and quality of learning further. Making sure that all students have the tools and guidance they need to learn and succeed will be vital in the recovery.
