Ms. Gita Kothari is the Deputy Director for Legal Affairs and the OECD Accession Coordinator. She has worked in legal functions within international organisations for more than twenty years and has been with the OECD Directorate for Legal Affairs since 2008.
In her time at the OECD, Ms. Kothari has coordinated 16 accession processes to the Organisation and has taken on a leading role in providing legal and procedural support to OECD governing bodies and substantive committees, including in relation to the development and implementation of OECD standards.
Prior to joining the OECD, Ms. Kothari worked as a Legal Officer at the United Nations International Court of Justice (2004-2008) and the European Court of Human Rights (2002-2004). A British national, Ms. Kothari holds a First Class Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree specialised in International Law from New York University.
