OECD evidence shows that international peer learning and good practice exchange is highly beneficial to regions and cities. Such exchanges can provide local policy makers with insights from policies and programmes that have been tested in other contexts, which can inform their own future policymaking.
Peer-learning for local and regional actors
Local policy makers and practitioners benefit from meeting with their peers on what works and why. We provide a forum to facilitate peer-learning and capacity building around local employment and economic development.
About peer-learning for local and regional actors
Our mission
We aim to create a space for local policy makers to meet their peers, knowledge share and build their capacity about local policy making.
How it works
We facilitate these exchanges through background research, identifying relevant examples and creating the space for exchange through webinars, workshops and study visits. Learn more about related work here:
The OECD Local Development Forum is a community of thousands of policy makers and practitioners around the world. In addition to fostering peer learning and exchange, it serves as a two-way street between the OECD and local communities. It not only brings the latest OECD research and analysis beyond ministries to main streets, but also ensures local voices and innovations inform our work.
The OECD Trento Centre for Local Development works "from data to practice" to provide strategic advice and capacity building to enhance local policy implementation. Building on the granular analysis of our Spatial Productivity Lab and leveraging Trento and other communities as "living labs", the Trento Centre has been developing innovative and effective approaches to local development for over 20 years.
A skilled workforce represents an important tool for local economies to attract investment. We support the development of local employment and skills policies that connect employers with the talent they seek and prepare workers for transitions for the future of work.
