Green hydrogen and power system transformation have multiple benefits, if well planned and managed. While green hydrogen provides an opportunity for grid integration of variable renewables and can contribute to decarbonising electricity supply, it competes for the same renewable energy resources that are also needed for decarbonising other energy sectors.
Many green projects are emerging in South and Southeast Asia countries, harnessing the opportunities of the renewable power-hydrogen nexus. Yet the integration of renewable electricity and hydrogen is still in its early stages and faces significant challenges.
This webinar aimed to address the challenges and opportunities that low-carbon hydrogen brings to the power sector, and to facilitate regional dialogue around the policy needs to promote the integration of renewable electricity capacity for hydrogen production in South and Southeast Asia.
