The Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia (SIPA), along with the International Transport Forum (ITF), aims to better align Central Asia's infrastructure investment during the economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The event launched the study and conducted initial stakeholder consultations to better align the project objectives and work plans with the needs and priorities of the Central Asian countries. The event gathered policymakers and experts from the regional transport sector in each of the six study countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The event included other key stakeholders, such as international organisations (AIIB, BSEC, EBRD, IRU, OECD, TRACECA, UNDP, and World Bank) and country representatives, adding further depth to the information and insights on the regional transport situation in Central Asia.
