A virtual webinar to launch the OECD Responsible Business Conduct for Green, Digital and Resilient Supply Chains in Asia project.
This project is leveraging the good practices of OECD Member countries to build the capacity of businesses operating in Asia to undertake responsible business conduct due diligence and promote convergence and alignment of RBC practices in Asian markets with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.
To deliver the project, the OECD is collaborating with government and non-government stakeholders in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and Singapore as well as businesses with operations and supply chains throughout Southeast Asia.
Over 2024 – 2027, the OECD will release and disseminate practical tools, hold events and deliver training to assist businesses in Asia to conduct supply chain due diligence and raise awareness of international responsible business conduct standards. We will also conduct analysis and convene meetings to facilitate dialogue between policymakers in the region on responsible business conduct policy areas.
During the project launch, OECD Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Yoshiki Takeuchi and the European Union Directorate-General for Trade’s Head of Unit Ms. Cristina Vasile provided the opening remarks.
Businesses from the Asia-Pacific region reflected on the benefits and challenges of implementing supply chain due diligence, and an expert panel shared their views on the current state-of-play for responsible business conduct in the region, and what all stakeholders can prioritise to increase uptake of sustainable business practices.
