Housing continues to challenge policymakers, because housing policies have implications for housing affordability as well as macroeconomic development, financial stability and environmental performance. Many policies influence housing outcomes and the broader impact of housing on economic, social and environmental outcomes. They include spatial planning and land-use regulations, building standards, rental market regulations, social and affordable housing policies, property and income taxation, environmental policy and standards, public governance arrangements, and financial market regulation.
The OECD’s Agenda for Housing Policy Reform was unveiled at this event. It aims to enable housing policymakers to weigh the different effects and trade-offs in the design and choice of housing policies. By consolidating existing best practices, research, and insights identified across the OECD, the Agenda is a tool to improve the coherence of policy formulation.
The Roundtable provided an opportunity for senior policy makers and OECD experts to exchange views on the key housing policy challenges.
