The Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC/OECD) and the West African Association for Cross-Border Trade in Food, Agro-Sylvo-Pastoral and Fisheries Products (AOCTAH) will hold a private-public dialogue workshop titled: Intraregional Food Trade: Constraints, Opportunities and Prospects.
Description
Through real-world insights from nearly 3,000 food traders, participants will explore the obstacles and opportunities in intra-regional trade, including border constraints, access to finance, and infrastructure.
Objective
The event aims to identify key challenges beyond border constraints that limit food trade in West Africa and compare the perspectives of both public and private actors on the regional food trade environment, its opportunities, and future prospects. Additionally, the event seeks to propose policy and regulatory improvements that will create a more supportive environment for intra-regional food trade, advancing sustainable growth and regional integration.
Audience
The target audience for this workshop are technical and financial partners (ECOWAS, GIZ, and ITC) as well as private and public sector participants. The workshop may also hold relevance for researchers, international organisations, and those interested in regional food trade and economic development in West Africa.
