The shipbuilding industry is currently facing a multitude of challenges and opportunities influenced by economic shifts, technological advancements, and policy changes. Global dynamics, such as the rise of China's shipbuilding capabilities and the need to decarbonise, require a concerted effort from industry stakeholders to ensure a balanced and competitive market. This workshop, organised by the OECD Shipbuilding committee, aims at providing a platform to bring together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss and address these critical issues.
Participants will explore economic outlooks, labour and other challenges, and their significant impact on Shipbuilding Committee non-members' industry and policies on the global market. The afternoon sessions will focus on policy measures to create a level playing field and the role of the Shipbuilding Committee in fostering fair competition and innovation. Through these discussions, the workshop aims to develop actionable insights and collaborative strategies to support a level playing field in the global shipbuilding industry.
