Montenegro has made significant progress since the last edition of the Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook, improving its score in 8 of the 15 policy areas assessed and outperforming the regional average in 8 of them. Yet, there is scope for the economy to further strengthen its competitiveness, align more closely with OECD and EU best standards and practices, and accelerate its convergence towards the OECD and EU.
The meeting served to present and discuss Montenegro’s main achievements and challenges based on the findings of the Montenegro economy profile of the Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook 2024. At the same time, it was an opportunity to reflect on the recent developments and explore avenues for strengthening tax policies that support sustainable and inclusive economic development.
