North Macedonia has made significant progress since the last edition of the Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook publication, advancing across 7 of the 15 assessed policy dimensions, with the strongest improvements observed in agriculture, tourism, and access to finance. Despite this progress, there remains significant potential for the economy to strengthen its competitiveness, better align with OECD and EU standards and best practices and accelerate its convergence with OECD and EU counterparts.
Based on the findings of the 2024 North Macedonia Economy Profile from the Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook series, the meeting aimed to present and discuss North Macedonia's key achievements and challenges, while also reflecting on developments that have occurred since the end of the assessment period. It further offered an opportunity to explore policy options, particularly those aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of environment policies.
