In Greece, in January 2023, the Greek government and the OECD established the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's thematic Centre in Crete. The Centre focuses on assessing global demographic changes and supporting governments in developing effective policy responses to the challenges these changes present.
On 4 November 2024, the OECD Centre in Crete, in collaboration with the Delphi Economic Forum and the Municipality of Chania, organised the first Conference on Population Dynamics in Chania.
The conference brought together international experts, policymakers, and academics to discuss key issues related to population dynamics, including demographic shifts, ageing populations, and the role of migration in fostering economic prosperity.
