In many Asian countries, state-owned enterprises are significant economic players. Better corporate governance of SOEs is therefore key for the region’s economic dynamism. Ensuring they operate efficiently, transparently, and on an equal footing with private companies will spur economic growth and competitiveness. The OECD aims to enhance the corporate governance of SOEs in the region through its Asia SOE Governance network, which produces topical studies, undertakes country reviews, and delivers capacity-building workshops focused on policy areas of the OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises.
The Network closely monitors SOE governance developments in the region, produces topical studies, and supports its members through country reviews and reform assistance that help drive national reforms to improve SOE performance and raise institutional capacity.
