Africa’s Urbanisation Dynamics 2022: The economic power of Africa’s economies, is a joint report prepared by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC/OECD) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
The SWAC/OECD Secretariat team was led by Philipp Heinrigs and Abel Schumann. Key team members included Inhoi Heo and Margherita Fadda (Chapters 1, 2 and 4). Sunny (Hae Nim) Lee processed and analysed Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) and enterprise survey data for Chapter 1. Rafael Prieto Curiel (University of Oxford, EAFIT University) developed the model for Chapter 2.
The team at the AfDB was led by Amadou Oumarou, Director of the Infrastructure and Urban Development Department, and was supervised by Stefan Atchia, Urban Division Manager. Cheikhou Balde (Urban Specialist) task managed the AfDB contribution (Chapter 5); Ahmed Basti (Urban Economist Consultant) carried out the data mining and analysis, and Alice Nabalamba (Chief Urban Specialist) reviewed and updated the chapter.
Chapters 2 and 3 were prepared under the leadership of Edlam Abera Yemeru, Director ad int., Gender, Poverty and Social Policy Division, ECA. Marios Pournaris (Associate Social Affairs Officer) oversaw the co-ordination and substantive drafting of the contribution.
Gulelat Kebede, Liz Paterson Gauntner and Imogen Howells were the Lead Expert Consultants for the preparation of the guidebook.
