In France, the General Directorate for Employment and Professional Training (DGEFP), part of the Ministry of Labour, designs, implements, manages and monitors public policies in the areas of support for professional transitions, professional integration, continuing vocational training and work-related training, and economic and social change. The DGEFP plays an essential role in helping stakeholders address the challenges they face, including the green transition. It is currently developing a roadmap to enable a fair green transition, through appropriate employment and training policies aimed at ensuring equitable workers’ transitions, creating new opportunities in sustainable sectors, and strengthening the skills needed to meet environmental challenges while promoting social inclusion. The DGEFP has requested the support of the DG Reform of the European Commission to help consolidate and implement the roadmap as part of its technical support instrument. The European Commission has designated the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to implement the project.
Adapting employment and training policies for the green transition in France
The project 'Consolidating and implementing the green transition roadmap of the General Directorate for Employment and Professional Training (DGEFP)' aims to identify the best ways to green selected employment and training policies within the DGEFP's remit (support for professional transitions, professional integration, continuing vocational training and work-related training, and support for economic and social change) and to provide the DGEFP with the necessary tools to implement and monitor the changes.
