Skills are a critical factor for the competitiveness and resilience of SMEs and entrepreneurs. The importance of skills development and lifelong learning are compounded by trends related to demographic shifts, the digital and green transitions, as well as the related rapid changes in the trade environment and (re-)configuration of value chains at the international level. Taken together, these developments are transforming the productive sector, labour markets, the type of jobs available, and the skills required to perform them.
To facilitate collaboration among different stakeholders and policy areas, the OECD has created the Entrepreneurship, Engagement, Collaboration, & Engagement (EECOLE) platform, which aims to bring together policy makers, higher education institutions, businesses and civil society to discuss which skills bundles are needed to strengthen the resilience of SMEs and Entrepreneurs.
EECOLE’s global platform maximises the contributions of these partners to make to local economic, social, and environmental development sustainable.
