The Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC/OECD) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa propose a 90-minute training for African mayors.
Description
This training dives into the practical use of spatial data in African cities. Through real-life examples, participants will learn how to anticipate and manage the challenges of urban expansion and climate change. They’ll gain insights to make informed decisions (such as policies and investments), shaping cities that are better for everyone, both now and in the future.
Objective
The course aims to achieve two main objectives. Firstly, it seeks to demonstrate the practical significance of spatial data across different decision-making stages, including planning, monitoring and evaluation, impact assessment, and scenario-building. Secondly, it aims to provide participants with a foundational understanding of how to conceive and develop future scenarios within urban contexts, emphasizing the essential role of data throughout this process.
Audience
The target audience of the training are African mayors. The ideal capacity of the training is 30, with a maximum of 50 (depending on interest). Participants do not need to have any technical experience.
