The G20 Principles for Quality Infrastructure Investment were endorsed in 2019, calling for projects that are economically viable, socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable and resilient to natural disasters. These principles serve to underpin infrastructure investments that promote economic growth, broad societal well-being and environmental stewardship.
In that context, the OECD Development Centre published the first Compendium of Good Practices on Quality Infrastructure in 2024 with a focus on fostering resilience to natural disasters. Building on this, with the theme Building Back Better after natural disasters, the second edition of the Compendium draws from seven global case studies to distil actionable principles to guide reconstruction efforts.
The report is the result of collaboration with the World Bank, with financial support from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan. The report aims to inform actions that make nations and communities more resilient.
