The 2019 edition of the OECD’s Perspectives on Global Development was prepared by the OECD Development Centre under the direction of Mario Pezzini, Director, and the general guidance of Federico Bonaglia, Deputy Director. The report was co-ordinated by Jason Gagnon who led the core team of Martha Baxter and Michael A. Stemmer. Vararat Atisophon provided valuable statistical assistance. Chapter 1, Development strategies for the 21st century, was drafted by Jason Gagnon. Chapter 2, New currents for shifting wealth, was drafted by Helmut Reisen and Michael A. Stemmer. Chapter 3, Then and now: Differences in development trajectories, was prepared by a team from the University of Utrecht composed of Jan Luiten van Zanden and Auke Rijpma, as well as Marco Mira d’Ercole (OECD) and the Development Centre core team. Chapter 4, A historical overview of development paradigms, was drafted by Harald Fuhr, Jason Gagnon and Erik S. Reinert. Regional contributions to the chapter were provided by the United Nations Economic Commissions on Africa (UNECA), Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC) and Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). Chapter 5, Facing new challenges for development, was prepared by Carl Dahlman and the Development Centre core team, with assistance from intern Ben Elgodjam.
The report was edited by Mark Foss and proof-read by Linda Smiroldo Herda.
