This report was prepared by the Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities (CFE), led by Lamia Kamal-Chaoui, in co-operation with the Environment Directorate (ENV), led by Rodolfo Lacy, and the Public Governance Directorate (GOV), led by Elsa Pilichowski. It summarises the findings of four capacity building workshops carried out by the OECD Secretariat in co-operation with the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA) of Brazil between 2019 and 2021 with 200+ stakeholders from the public, private and non-profit sectors to discuss the implementation of policy recommendations from previous OECD reports on water governance (2015) and financing (2017). The workshops’ themes were: Upgrading, Governing and Financing Water Infrastructure (14-18 October 2019), Regulating Water Management Across Levels of Government (19-22 October 2020), Strengthening River Basin Governance in the Piancó-Piranhas Açu River Basin (25-28 May 2021) and Strengthening Water Allocation Regimes and Economic Instruments in the Piancó-Piranhas Açu River Basin (21-24 September 2021).
